How the building was named
Professor J.C. Jaeger (1907–1979) was foundation Professor of Geophysics in the Research School of Physical Sciences at the University from 1952 to 1972, during which time he served a term as Dean of the School. During his period at the University Professor Jaeger strengthened the study of geophysics and geochemistry and suggested the formation of a separate Research School of Earth Sciences to further develop these disciplines at the University.
